Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Taproo website at taproo.com, our applications, hosted QR landing pages, NFC tag programming tools and physical product shop (together, the "Service") provided by Taproo ("Taproo", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement and that any information you provide is accurate.

2. Your account

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for any activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@taproo.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any law, regulation or third-party right.
  • Infringe intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights.
  • Distribute malware, phishing, scam, or deceptive content.
  • Encode QR codes or NFC tags that point to illegal, harmful, or hateful material.
  • Harass, threaten, defame or impersonate any person or organisation.
  • Probe, scan, overload, or interfere with the Service or attempt to bypass our security or rate limits.
  • Use the Service for unsolicited bulk messaging.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of all content you upload — QR landing pages, NFC payloads, text, images and files. You grant Taproo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, modify (only as needed for resizing and formatting) and display your content solely for the purpose of operating, securing and improving the Service. You confirm that you have all necessary rights to the content you upload.

5. Plans & payment

All prices on Taproo are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP, £) and are inclusive of UK VAT where applicable. Subscription fees are charged in advance on a recurring basis and are non-refundable except where required by law (including your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). One-off product orders are governed by the additional shop terms below. We may change pricing on at least 30 days' notice; changes will not apply to a billing period you have already paid for.

6. Shop orders & shipping

Physical products (NFC keychains, pet tags, business cards, carrier letters, etc.) are sold subject to availability. Risk passes to you on delivery. Where you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you have the right to cancel most orders within 14 days of receipt under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 / EU Consumer Rights Directive — except for personalised or custom-printed items, which are made to your specification and are non-returnable unless faulty. To request a return or report a faulty item, email support@taproo.com within 30 days.

7. Dynamic codes & uptime

Dynamic QR codes and NFC tags resolve through Taproo's redirect service. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We will give reasonable notice of planned maintenance where possible.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if your account poses a security or abuse risk. We will give reasonable notice where possible. On termination, your hosted QR landing pages will stop resolving.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except where such warranties cannot be excluded under applicable law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. Subject to this, to the fullest extent permitted by law, Taproo's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid to Taproo in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or data.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. We will notify you of material changes by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that consumers resident in another part of the UK or in the EU may also bring proceedings in their local courts where required by mandatory consumer law.
